Holding on to the Dream

Sam lost absolutely everything that was important to him . . . . . . or so he thought. After losing his wife in childbirth and his faith in God, the winter of 1883 brought with it the worst weather ever recorded in our nation's history, nearly wiping out his entire herd. With no wife, mere shreds of his former faith remaining, almost no cattle to earn him a living, and a child to raise on his own, how could he possibly be thankful for anything again? Was anything even left of his dream?
